Celebrate Munich's Oktoberfest with Dirndls and Bavarian Beer at The Charles Hotel
Munich, August 2012 - Munich’s infamous beer festival, Oktoberfest, has rapidly become one of the world’s largest and most popular fairs – synonymous with Bavarian Ale, live music, parties, dirndls and lederhosen. From September 2012, Rocco Forte’s The Charles Hotel embraces the celebratory atmosphere and welcomes guests with a host of surprises including tailor-made costumes, treatments and the hotel’s very own Wiesn Hut.
Throughout the 16-day festival, guests of The Charles Hotel can soak up the Bavarian culture from the centre of the action. Perfectly situated in the heart of Munich, the hotel sits within the Old Botanical Garden, close to the Königsplatz, the old town and the superb shopping area. The design was overseen by Olga Polizzi, Director of Design for Rocco Forte Hotels, and reflects its location with the use of original paintings by Munich’s celebrated 19th-century artist Franz von Lenbach.
During this year’s Oktoberfest from September 22 to October 7, The Charles Hotel has organised a celebratory package during which women will be fitted for a unique dirndl – the traditional Bavarian dress – specially made by local well designer Schatzi Dirndl. As the women play dress-up, men can enjoy the ‘Wiesn Warm Up’ Bavarian speciality beers at the hotel’s Oktoberfest Hut before both visiting the spa in preparation for the night ahead.
The following day, the spa also offers a hangover facial and massage to release toxins consumed the night before! For those interested in the history and tradition of the Oktoberfest, the hotel can arrange a guided tour of the museum which includes a tasting with a Beer Sommelier.
